Need options please

Hi,

I was talking to BlackNight on the Irish WebMaster Forum here about an issue I'm having with my vBulletin v4.0 forum & my shared hosting.

BlackNight suggested a mod for my forum, but I don't really want to install this mod.

Basically I cannot search my forum for words with less than 4 characters , because the "ft_min_word_len" setting is set at 4. So I'm looking at a dedicated server or VPS Hosting (not really sure what VPS Hosting is?).

My hosting is due for renewal in early Feb, so I'm trying to get this sorted asap.

Can BlackNight Hosting offer me any solutions to this problem please? and costs too? As you can see here, I don't really have much to host.

Yes - a VPS would allow you to customise the MySQL settings to enable you to do what you needed to do

Ok I've now purchased the VPS Hosting pack. I'm moving my .com's to the server now. I have 3 .ie's addresses which I purchased via another hosting company. How do I transfer them to Blacknight?, just change the DNS to Blacknight via domainregistry.ie the login settings?

Would it be possible for Blacknight to move everything from my old host to my Blacknight hosting if I provided my login details?, or would this be something I'd have to do myself?

You have two options here:

1. Update the dns and leave the billing with the other provider
2. Avail of our IE domain transfer discount and save

You'll need to update the nameservers, but if you transfer the domains to us you'll be able to manage everything via our control panel in one place, which is probably saner in the long run

It's probably better if you do it yourself, but our technical support team would be more than happy to assist you and point you in the right direction.
