Hi, If I send mail from one of my domains it goes into the spam folder. Doesn't happen with gmail addresses but does with hotmail/yahoo etc, this is also effecting my clients, is there a method to fix it? Thanks |

Without more detail it would be very hard for us to assist you. Is it affecting all email or just some? Are the emails plaint text or html? Have you setup a reverse dns entry for your vps? (or got us to do it for you)

Thanks for the reply It goes into the junk mail of hotmail and yahoo, but doesn't in gmail and some others I've tried. The mail is plain text I think. I'm not sure about the reverse dns entry? What does it do, and could you set it up for me? Thanks |

Please contact support about the reverse dns entry However please bear in mind that without more details there isn't much that we can do

Hi blacknight thanks for the reply I've found the root of the problem but it's led to a problem I had way back: the problem was that in the mail settings in thunderbird my mail client, I had SMTP setting as mail1.eircom.net - the reason I had eircom as the sender was that it sends in a second. If I have it as the mail.domain.com it will send but it takes ages. Setting the SMTP back to the mail.domain.com has stopped the mail going into peoples spam folders but now means it takes 10-15 seconds to send a mail Perhaps its something I have configured incorrectly? I have it to request a password TLS if available and it does request a password and it works - it seems to be the only setting that will work with mail.domain.com that will allow it to successfully send - though it takes a long time, perhaps you could advise Thanks |

It sounds like your email settings might be causing an issue. It should be as fast to send via the VPS as via Eircom, unless the VPS is very busy. I'd check your email client settings carefully - you shouldn't need TLS etc., unless you actually have it set - just make sure you have it set to authenticate
