I'm not quite sure how to word this so here goes! I have a client that I will be moving to my new VPS server and they want me to point the mail to there small business server using MX records. When I set up a now domain I normally do it in cp.blacknight.com I set the account as parked then add all the relavent DNS required to point it to my VPS server. In the case of this customer, would I do the following. Add all the DNS records to point to my VPS server with the exception of the MX record. Would I point this to the IP address provided by my client. I also have a mail.domain.tld record. Should this be left out or pointed to the same IP as the MX record. Or should I point everything at the VPS server and change the records under CLIENT>client name>domain.tld>DNS Zone I told you it would make no sense ![]() Basically the client wants to move his account to my VPS but use his small business server in his office for all his mail. |

OK, To achieve this you will need to setup a MX record that points to your clients mailserver (the IP provided by your client). Point mail.domain.tld to your clients server if thats the domain that will be used for POP/IMAP/SMTP etc... Everything else you will want to point at your own server. If that makes sense... |
