Hi How do you access the VPS and Plesk - is it over the internet port 80 in a web browser (like microsoft virtual server)? I may need one for a client project but I work behind a company firewall. For example from in here I can not hit external sql servers but can hit anything over standard port 80 and 21 Also am I correct in thinking you get full admin rights to the machine so that I am free to set whatever permissions I wish on an individual website hosted on it... |

Hi there, Plesk does use a non-standard port I'm afraid. It uses port 8443. The main control panel is accesible over port 80, however this does not give you much control in relation to plesk or logging into the VPS If you have access through the ports SSH uses (for a linux VPS) or remote desktop (on windows) then you could access the VPS directly as you would indeed have full control in your own VPS. |

We use remote desktop internally but I dont know if I'll be able to connect out to one outside the network Don't suppose you have a way I could test... I dont want to login to anything but at least if I could see if I could reach anything outside our firewall |

I'm very suprised I can reach this ip address. I was chatting to security who believed I would probably need to get a dsl line as there'd be no way i get out through our systems but I can reach it... Is this over 8443 or is Plesk different, perhaps its plesk I wouldnt be able to reach EDIT: Might be ok here too - I was able to access the plesk demo https://plesk86.win.demo.parallels.com:8443/ Think I might be set. I should know in the next few weeks whether we will need the VPS Thanks for your help Tara Last edited by Solyad; 31-07-08 at 09:48 AM. |
