It'd be nice to know a few more of the people around who are using the VPS.

My name is James ... and I'm a VPS holic

I signed up a month or two ago but haven't had much time to get everything I've wanted up and running.

I'm planning on moving a few of my sites over .. mostly basic enough
CMS Made Simple
Textpattern
Wordpress
some custom development work as well.

Mostly php / mysql work.

Previous to this I've been on a mix of shared hosting in Ireland and in the US.

I am curious about the performance. What VPS plan are you on and how snappy is it as a LAMP hosting solution?

New VPS user, intend a bit of basic web development work on a project I've had in the back of my mind for a while.

Simple enough LAMP, maybe migrating the user config to OpenLDAP when I get it up and running.

I've been using a Linux host for about 7 years now. Unfortunately their costs are rocketing (in Sterling), so I've been hunting around for an new hosting solution for a while now.

A friend recommending Blacknight, plus the subscription is in Euros, so I've signed up for Minimus (for now).

I'm in the process of transferring my domains and MySQL databases to this host, a long process at the best of times!

I'm having a minor problem right now with buttons vanishing without reason from the Domains panel, but that's another post...

Overall, right now I'm a happy bunny

forbairt: Re: UK hosting companies. My early experiences were fine. But over the past few years, the charges have skyrocketed.

NB: I've realised that I've got a Shared Hosting option, not a VPS option. But never mind, I'll direct my questions to the right forum!

Welcome JA12 ... unfortunately I've only had bad experiences with UK hosting companies so far no idea how their prices are changing these days though
