Testing before going live

I'm testing my new medius hosting package and all seems to be fine. However images that are stored on my new hosting package cannot be accessed and show up as forbidden if I try and link to them directly off the server. It looks like I'm forbidden from accessing image files on the server. Html files, css files and images located on my old host are fine and can be accessed no problem.

I've yet to transfer DNS from my old host so I'm testing directly on the server. I'm presuming the images will be fine when I go live? Mind you it would be nice to fully make sure everything is in place before transferring DNS from my old host.

Hi There,

Looks to me like you .htaccess rules for hotlinking images are preventing it from displaying prior to DNS change.

If you comment that out for testing, it should work.

Yes that does seem to be the problem. I took down the .htaccess file and the images appeared... I then put it up again and they disappeared again. I'm assuming once it goes live it should be OK as hotlinks are no longer an issue?
