As no one has responded I will, though please take my suggestions with some caution, Im not famliar with SMF, your site, nor very experienced.
Can I first recommend you make a backup of that site as it stands, log into your account, go to web space, and then Backups and make a new backup. Indeed any time you're making any significant changes to your site it would be worth first making a backup: that way if something goes wrong you can restore it easily.
Next you might want to provide more info on how you set up your classifieds site? Is it perhaps powered by some CMS, or is it simply html files. Was it all in the top level of your webspace (httpdocs)?
How did you install SMF? Through the installer or manually? If manually where did you install it? To the top level directory of your website e.g. the httpdocs folder or a subdirectory?
Things to take a look at. Did SMF create/modify a .htaccess file in the top level of your site that is say redirecting traffic to a (now non existant) subdirectory or some such. Did you leave a SMF index.php file in the top level of your site (perhaps it's overwritten the existing one for your classifieds site or if your classifieds is html that the index.php from SMF still sitting there conflicting with the index.html of your classifieds site? And have you simply tried clearing your browsers cache?
