Default Time takes to transfer a .com domain

Hi,

I transferred my domain to blacknight last night from a US supplier. It is .com domain and the transfer went through successfully. I changed the nameservers during the transfer to new hosting. I am wondering how long will it take before the nameservers are resolved and the domain points at the new hosting?

If the new nameservers are showing in WHOIS then it's simply a matter of waiting for DNS to catch up

Did you update the nameservers AND associate the domain with a service eg. mail / web hosting?

I think I did, it has a folder on my wwwroot and is in my List of domains with Web hosting.

Actually just reading over the transfer steps again: "Blacknight’s registrar will send an email to this address to verify the transfer request; you must respond to this."

Must check with other site owner if they did this (as I havent)

If it is a .com domain the transfer can take up to 5 days to process fully - assuming that:

  • the domain is unlocked
  • the epp code supplied is correct
  • the email address associated with the domain is valid, reachable and the registrant has clicked on the link
