| Hi, just a general query. I'm up and running on 3Ireland Mobile Broadband and I'm getting SPAM errors when trying to send email out. Receiving is no problem. I'm running Thunderbird on a Mac and 3Ireland make some suggestions... 1) Use 'SMTP Authentication' 2) Use authentication on a different port 3) Use 3irelands mail relay Just wondering what you suggest is the best option, or is it simply a case of whatever works? Thanks! |

| I'd recommend option 3. It will cause you fewer issues ![]() option 1 is available, but won't help if the IP you're using is listed in The Spamhaus Project option 2 is not something we offer at present

| If you set your SMTP to be theirs you shouldn't get a SpamHaus error.. What are you using to send email? ie. which software client?

| I'm using Thunderbird, on a Mac. It's actually just a connection error I now get when I use their SMTP server, rather than a spam error, so I guess their server must be down or something? I'll keep trying ![]() |

| Update... It seems that the SMTP server mail-relay.3ireland.ie only works with Apple Mail, and not Thunderbird so that was my problem. They gave me a different SMTP server to try with Thunderbird, smtp.nd.edu, which I thought was strange as it's the University of Notre Dame's server. Why would they be telling me to route my email through that ![]() Anyway it didn't work because she was telling me to make sure I turned on Authentication but then kept telling me that I didn't need a password for the server, which it kept asking me for. Very frustrating trying to explain myself over and over. Anyway, long and short of it is I have to switch over to using Apple Mail. |

| Hmm. That's bizarre. Apple Mail and Thunderbird are just email clients, so you should be able to use them interchangeably - I do
