Default Blacknight Network Migration

In order to provide our clientele with the best service possible the Blacknight Technical team will be performing a Network Migration of the shared server upon which you have an account.

No doubt you have some questions; this email is intended to answer the most frequently asked.

I have no idea what a Network Migration is, basically what exactly is going to happen?
Our shared servers will have their IP addresses changed.
How does this affect me?

For the vast majority of accounts, Blacknight is in complete control of all the various technologies that allow your account to function, and there will be very little to worry about. However we are forced to assume that your various details (ftp, email, control panel login) are in accordance with our tutorials. You can check the various tutorials here: http://tutorials.blacknight.ie/ or http://blacknight.ie/tutorials.0.html . The tutorials that most people will have to run through are the Email, DirectAdmin and FTP tutorials

One issue that we have come across in previous migrations is people using IP addresses to access services, for example if you are using an IP address as a mail server (POP3, SMTP or other) or FTP server, or to access DirectAdmin. Please check our tutorials for instructions on the proper use of such services.
Blacknight is not in control of my DNS records, what do I have to do?

You will have to liaise with whoever is in control of your DNS records in order to ensure that they can change the DNS records to the new settings provided. ++You++ will have to stress upon whoever is in control of your DNS records that the change should be 100% live and as propagated as possible when we make the change on our side, and not that they simply make the change when we have the changeover scheduled for.

It must be ++stressed++ that any downtime caused by a third party not updating their DNS records or with their DNS propagating slowly is not the fault of Blacknight Solutions.
What are the details of the Migration?
The following is a list of the old IP's on this shared server and their corresponding new IP
When will this take place
Tuesday October 10th, it will take place out of office hours.

217.114.173.168 -> 81.17.252.41
217.114.173.209 -> 81.17.252.42
217.114.173.211 -> 81.17.252.43
217.114.173.244 -> 81.17.252.44
217.114.173.245 -> 81.17.252.45

As far as I am aware it shouldn't affect you or your clients directly as you are on a server that was already migrated

Thanks Michele.

I sort of assumed you wouldn't be migrating me twice, but the list might be handy for those who are affected....
