Network Maintenance / Upgrade (Part 2)

When: Friday 6th, Saturday 7th of July
Time: 22:00 - 02:00

Outage possibility:

During this period we intend to switch off the BGP sessions on the router that is being replaced. We'll lose Tiscali and our INEX peering sessions. There will be no impact to International connectivity during this maintenance window, however our INEX traffic will re-route via Smart Telecom during this maintenance window so low latency should be maintained. The only connectivity "At-Risk" during this maintenance window will be to INEX traffic, but as stated it'll re-route via Smart Telecom for the duration of the window.

What:

We are upgrading our edge routers to Juniper Service Routers from their current configuration.

This is part two of a 2 part upgrade. After this work has been completed we'll now have much higher port density on both our transit routers and also much greater capacity.

After this window, we'll be re-configuring our INEX sessions to use MD5 and this will cause minor outages while each session bounces with each ISP at INEX. This will cause brief outages in the region of 10-15 seconds per ISP.

Hi All,

This upgrade went ahead without any issues.

We now have a full compliment of Juniper Service routers driving our edge network.
